Choose Your Fin Size

Atomic SplitFins are certainly the best of the split fins in the world. A radical new approach to diver propulsion. With the slightest kick, the split blade deflects to form a pair of wings that slice through the water with reduced drag, creating lift in the forward direction to propel you ahead.

Compared to conventional fins, the SplitFin swims with less effort, stress and strain resulting in greater sustained speed, power and comfort. Independent testing has shown that this design can significantly reduce air consumption!

Why SplitFins are better than regular fins

Because you can swim faster and further with less effort, stress and strain! Compared to the conventional style fins that you probably own, the SplitFin operates more efficiently that the "paddle" type fins that you're used to. They deliver more propulsion with less drag and kick with less effort. Using hard kicking paddle fins can result in leg strain, fatigue and cramping. This reduces your ability to sustain high speeds for long periods of time. A fin that is hard to kick is often falsely perceived by divers to be an indication of power. However, tests with underwater speedometers show that these divers are often actually moving relatively slowly, even though they "feel" like they are moving fast. Kicking effort has no direct relationship to speed or power.

Your conventional paddle fins are just that. They work by pushing some of the water rearward like an old paddlewheel steamship. As a paddle fin is pushed through the water, much of the water spills over the top surface of the blade and sticks to it, creating drag.

Extra kicking effort is needed to overcome that drag. In contrast, the SplitFin slices though the water with two wing shaped surfaces, creating lift and forward propulsion more like a propeller. Any water traveling over the top of the blade is funneled into and out of the opening (split) between the blades. Drag is reduced, effort is reduced and efficiency is increased.

The Atomic Aquatics SplitFins use Propeller-FinTM Technology, which delivers ultra-high speeds with a small-range rapid flutter kick in the same manner that increasing the RPM on a boat's propeller accelerates a boat to high speeds.

Divers should enjoy a worry-free experience!
Atomic Aquatics founders Dean Garraffa and Doug Toth had already forged a reputation as discerning, demanding designers of innovative diving equipment since 1976. After generating numerous groundbreaking patents for a major manufacturer, they established Atomic Aquatics in 1995 and embarked on a mission to create diving equipment of the highest caliber.
